2023 F1 Transportation challenges

Transportation for the 2023 Formula 1 Las Vegas Grand Prix event was impacted by several issues, including:
  • Traffic
The event caused significant traffic problems for locals and businesses. The race course and its barriers and fencing limited access to businesses, and the Flamingo Road bridge hurt local businesses at the Koval Lane intersection.

  • Road closures
The event shut down parts of Flamingo Road, Koval Lane, Harmon Avenue, and Sands Avenue from 7 PM to 2 AM each day.
  • Construction
Construction leading up to the event caused traffic delays that frustrated hotel workers.
  • Communication
The CEO of the Las Vegas Grand Prix acknowledged that they were moving so quickly that they internally did not have the right resources to communicate.

Formula 1 teams also face transportation challenges when moving their equipment and staff around the world. Some of these challenges include:
  • Forgetting something
  • High winds
  • Closed ports or terminals
  • Broken down vehicles
  • Closed tunnels
  • Volcanic eruptions
